The Smiling GeneralToday, Sunday 27 January 2008 at 13:10 pm, former president of Indonesia, Mr Soeharto passed away after being cured in Pertamina Hospital Center, Jakarta for 23 days. It has been a big missing for Indonesian People. It can be seen by the government decision that make 7 days later as National White Mourning Headband.

Mr Soeharto’s condition is getting worse day by day because mostly of his organs like heart, brain, lungs, kidney and digested system couldn’t work normally. The Presidential doctors has try all possible ways to save the former President. But God has its own way. Mr Soeharto passed away in his age 86 years old.

Till his death, Mr Soeharto still has to face corruption cases which involved his foundations. and by now his status is still not clear between right or wrong. It is like a picture of what happens with Mr Soekarno, Founding Father of Republic Indonesia. For this case, the government should take a wise way to solve this polemic so it won’t be never find the end.

Mr Soeharto’s body will be buried in Astana Giri Bangun (graveyard complex of Soeharto’s family) at Karanganyar Solo where his wife is buried before. There is a lot of people come to show their big condolences for Mr Soeharto passed. Mr President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Jusuf Kalla also come.

As a human, former president Soeharto cannot be released from good and bad things. Therefore we should not only remember about his faults. But we have to remember good things from him too. Good bye The Smiling General… Hope you get the best place there…
